Tina M. Faecke (Fed)

Management and Program Analyst

Tina M. Faecke is the Management and Program Analyst for the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) and the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program (NWIRP).  These statutory programs reside in the Materials and Structural Systems Division headquarters within the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In her current position, Ms. Faecke:

  • manages daily implementation and execution of administrative and statutory reporting requirements;
  • serves as Designated Federal Officer for the statutory federal advisory committees;
  • serves as backup for the NIST Committee Liaison Management Officer;
  • actively participates in executive-level interagency meetings and prepares the meeting summary;
  • coordinates outreach activities with the other statutory Program agencies and manages the exhibit booth at professional conferences;
  • manages the NEHRP and NWIRP external and interagency websites; and,
  • serves as an information resource and advisory to the statutory NIST Program Directors in addition to Program agency representatives outside of NIST.

Ms. Faecke joined NIST in July 1974 as a clerk-stenographer assigned to Personnel. She was selected for a permanent position in the Office of ADP Standards Management, Institute for Computer Sciences and Technology (ICST), in November 1974, and was promoted to an Administrative Aid position within the same office in December 1976. During her career in ICST, she served as a Secretary (Stenography) for a Division Chief, the Center Director, and the Laboratory Deputy Director. In September 1988, Ms. Faecke was promoted to an administrative officer position. She was given full responsibility for the financial and human resource execution and operation of the laboratory headquarters. She was also responsible for orchestrating the November 1995 physical relocation of approximately 520 employees and their associated property to NIST North, when the Computer Systems Laboratory (CSL) and Computing and Applied Mathematics Laboratory (CAML) merged to become the NIST Information Technology Laboratory (ITL).

In March 1996, Ms. Faecke was selected as the Administrative Officer for two divisions (Building Environment and Building Materials) within the Building and Fire Research Laboratory (BFRL). In early 2006, Ms. Faecke was named to serve as the Administrative Officer for the NEHRP Secretariat.  In May 2012, Faecke was reassigned to serve as the Management and Program Analyst for NEHRP and for NWIRP beginning in October 2015.

Awards

  • NIST Director's Award for Excellence in Administration for outstanding administrative leadership for NEHRP and the National Construction Safety Team Program.
  • NIST Engineering Laboratory Support Award for providing outstanding administrative support to NEHRP, the Disaster and Failure Studies Program, and NWIRP.
  • Certificate of Recognition for outstanding performance involving successful implementation of the Core Financial System of the Commerce Administrative Management System for NIST and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
