Effective Jan 1, 2013, the NIST CCC waiting list policy has changed to comply with United States Code, 40 U.S.C § 590(b)(2)(C), which states the conditions under which a federal agency may provide space for child care services in a federal building.
The Center Director maintains the waiting list. The date of registration and a priority category letter are entered on the waiting list with the child’s name and birth date (or parent's name and due date of an expected or to be adopted child). The wait time for a child care space is largely dependent on the age of the child and priority category. Often, a family can be on the waitlist for a year or more. The waitlist priority categories are as follows:
A. Children (dependents) of Federal NIST employees
The priority category will be updated if the status of the parent/guardian or sponsoring relative changes and the parent/guardian or sponsoring relative notifies the Center Director when their status impacts the priority category of the child. The parent/guardian or sponsoring relative must provide proof of status for their priority category at the time contacted to fill a vacancy in the Center.
