NCST Advisory Committee to Meet on October 19 and 20

Purpose:

The National Construction Safety Team (NCST) Advisory Committee, the panel of building and fire experts established to advise the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on its building failure investigations, will meet to hear presentations on the progress of the agency’s two ongoing investigations—the building collapses at New York City’s World Trade Center (WTC) following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001; and The Station nightclub fire of Feb. 20, 2003, in W. Warwick, R.I.

Sunder will lead a brief question-and-answer period for reporters on the WTC investigation at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19. Grosshandler and NIST Building and Fire Research Laboratory Director James Hill will do the same for the Rhode Island investigation at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Concurrent with the meeting, all presentations will be on the NCST Web site, http://www.nist.gov/ncst.
