Corie Bruins is an Administrative Office Assistant for the Flammability Reduction Group in the Fire Research Division (FRD) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Ms. Bruins is also a current student at Hood College working on her Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources.
Ms. Bruins graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) with a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre, as well as a minor in history and a MBA preparatory certificate. At UMBC, her major concentrated in stage management; she worked on many productions both behind the scene (as scenic construction, assistant stage manager, and run crew) and in front of the house (as usher and house manager). At the National Institute of Standards and Technology she has held positions in the Engineering Laboratory Headquarters, Research Library and Child Care Center. Outside of government service, she has held positions at Bethesda's Imagination Stage in their Arts Express summer camp. This has heightened her organization, patience and research skills.
