The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is planning to host the International Symposium on Forensic Science Error Management: Detection, Measurement and Mitigation from July 20-24, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

"We anticipate that this symposium will draw global attention to best practices and scientific research for identifying and reducing errors in forensic science laboratories," said Mark Stolorow, deputy director of the NIST Special Programs Office. "We will be addressing quality assurance, bias and ethics topics relevant to every subdiscipline within forensic science."

Organizers are planning the meeting around several tracks:

  • Criminalistics and Digital Evidence;
