Application Process

Applications are being accepted for the 2016 NIST Summer Institute for Middle School Science Teachers Program. If you are interested in learning more about the 2016 program, contact Kate Rimmer at summerinstitute@nist.gov.


The Summer Institute is a two-week workshop for middle school science teachers featuring hands-on activities, lectures, tours, and visits with NIST scientists and engineers in their laboratories. Dates: July 11-27, 2016.

Application deadline: March 4, 2016.

Note to teachers: Applications must be submitted through your school district or private school administration. Applications from individual teachers WILL NOT be accepted.

If you are a teacher, contact your administrator or grants specialist regarding the application and provide the following information: 

1. The appropriate Federal Funding Opportunity (FFOs)

2. FFO Summary and Application Checklist

3. Grants Application Forms

Paper applications are acceptable, or applications may be submitted electronically at Grants.gov. See the FFO for more information.
