DRAFT Test Assertions for VVSG 1.0 Section 3.2.5, October 2014

Requirement 3.2.5

VVSG 1.0 Requirement 3.2.5: The voting process shall be accessible to voters with hearing disabilities.

Note: This is a high-level requirement that is fulfilled by the lower-level ones.

Test Assertions

None.

Requirement 3.2.5a

VVSG 1.0 Requirement 3.2.5a: The accessible voting station shall incorporate the features listed under requirement 3.2.2.2 (c) for voting equipment that provides audio presentation of the ballot to provide accessibility to voters with hearing disabilities.

Test Assertions

TA325a-1: IF the voting equipment provides audio presentation of the ballot to provide accessibility to voters with hearing disabilities THEN the voting equipment SHALL conform to the requirements of 3.2.2.2 (C).

TA325a-2: IF the voting equipment provides audio presentation of the ballot to provide accessibility to voters with hearing disabilities THEN the voting equipment SHALL conform to the test assertions for 3.2.2.2 (C).

Requirement 3.2.5b

VVSG 1.0 Requirement 3.2.5b: If voting equipment provides sound cues as a method to alert the voter, the tone shall be accompanied by a visual cue, unless the station is in audio-only mode.

Test Assertions

TA325b-1: IF the voting equipment provides sound cues as a method to alert the voter AND the station is NOT in audio-only mode THEN the tone SHALL be accompanied by a visual cue.

TA325b-2: IF the voting equipment provides sound cues as a method to alert the voter AND the station is in audio-only mode THEN the tone SHALL NOT be accompanied by a visual cue.

TA325b-3: IF the voting equipment beeps when the voter attempts to overvote THEN there SHALL be an equivalent visual cue.

TA325b-3-1: The equivalent visual cue MAY be the appearance of an icon.

TA325b-3-2: The equivalent visual cue MAY be the appearance of a blinking element.
