The symposia focuses on the scientific research, latest developments in technology, synthesis, characterization and applications. The meeting provides for limited parallel sessions with sufficient breaks and social gatherings to provide for collaborative networking opportunities, including a welcome reception, poster sessions, coffee breaks, and a conference dinner.

Dendrimers are monodisperse polymeric material with branched architecture first reported as cascade molelcules by Prof. Fritz Vögtle in 1978 and later by Dr. Donald Tomalia and Prof. George Newkome in 1985 as dendrimers and arborols, respectively. The field has expanded in the past 25 years and now dendrimers, dendritic polymers and hyperbranched architectures found application in various fields including materials, catalysis, defense, energy, environmental remediation and biomedical applications to name a few.
With the exponential growth of this field, with many groups pursuing dendrimer research all over the globe, researchers felt the need for a dedicated international symposium to bring multidisciplinary groups working with dendrimers together and discuss their research. As a results, the first international dendrimer symposium was organized in Frankfurt, Germany (1999) followed every two years by Tokyo, Japan (2001); Berlin, Germany (2003); Mt. Pleasant, MI, USA (2005); Toulouse, France (2007); Stockholm, Sweden in 2009. An average of 300-400 participants attended these symposia from over 30 countries every two years.
