David Pitchure

David Pitchure is a native of Buffalo, N.Y. who came to work at NIST in 1987. He started with the Advanced Sensors Group which later merged into the Materials Performance Group. He has worked on projects developing ultrasonic test methods for the steel industry, Rockwell C hardness standards, mechanical testing and characterization techniques for metal forming, springback, and hydrogen embrittlement. He has designed and constructed mechanical systems for laboratory experiments including
instruments for measuring of the solid-liquid interface during
solidification, growing aluminum single crystals, springback measurement, electrochemical measurement of underground corrosion, and mechanical testing of hydrogen embrittlement.
