NISTIR 7383 SOP 18/19 - Parts 1 and 2

These 2 hour webinars will examine SOP 18 and the process of calibrating Volumetric Test Measures using NISTIR 7383 SOP 18 and compare this procedure to SOP 19 and the additional equations and measurement components it contains.

  • Part 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Part 2 is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of these two 2 hour sessions, using your notes and SOP 18 you will be able to:

  • DESCRIBE the process of SOP 18 and SOP 19
  • IDENTIFY sources of error
  • QUANTIFY the sources of error
  • IDENTIFY when use of SOP 18 is appropriate, and when SOP 19 should be used
  • Correctly IMPLEMENT SOP 18 in the calibration of field standard test measures
  • Correctly CALCULATE the uncertainty of the SOP 18 calibration

Materials & Supplies:

Participants need to locate a field standard 5 gallon test measure and view the video available on our website for SOP 18 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQrtm6vT8VQ&feature=youtube_gdata).

Prerequisite(s):

Participants must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Metrology Seminar. They should also read NISTIR 7383 SOPs 18 and 19.

Pre-Work:

Read NISTIR 7383 SOPs 18, 19 and GMP 3.
