2010 Pie Chart Description Link

This pie chart shows the distribution of NIST resources for fiscal year 2010 (all numbers are rounded). NIST's FY 2010 resources total $1 billion.

NIST's FY 2010 resources total $856.6 million from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-117), $49.9 million in service fees, and $101.5 million from other agencies.

Congressional appropriations for NIST programs under the Consolidated Appropriations Act include:

$504.5 million for Scientific and Technical Research and Services (STRS);
$124.7 million for the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP);
$69.9 million for the Technology Innovation Program (TIP);
$80 million for construction and major renovation and repair of NIST facilities under the Construction of Research Facilities (CRF) appropriation; and
$20 million for a competitive construction grant program for research science buildings.

In addition, NIST's appropriations from the Consolidated Appropriations Act include another:

$10.5 million for congressionally directed projects funded under the STRS account, and
$47 million for congressionally directed construction projects under the CRF account.

NIST also expects to receive about $49.9 million in fees for reimbursable services such as calibrations, measurement standards, and laboratory accreditation. Other federal agencies will support an estimated $101.5 million of research in the NIST Laboratories during FY 2010.

Total NIST resources in FY 2010, including all above amounts, is estimated at $1 billion. Not included in this FY 2010 resource summary is $610 million in funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Public Law 111-5) that were made available in FY 2009, and of which $590 million must be spent by the end of FY 2010.
