Ben Neely has been with the Marine Biochemical Sciences group at NIST Charleston in the Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina, for 2.5 years. He has been using mass spectrometry-based proteomics for the last decade to discover candidate biomarkers related to disease and cancer progression in humans and marine mammals. In addition to helping develop new reference materials and standardized methods, Ben spends his time delving into emerging proteomic techniques such as data-independent acquisition and metaproteomics.
