Melissa Meaney Phillips is a research chemist at NIST, where she works to develop new analytical methods for the determination of marker compounds, vitamins and contaminants in dietary supplements and foods. Phillips started NIST’s Food Safety Program and has been involved in the development of standard reference materials (SRMs) for many foods. Phillips earned her bachelor’s degrees, master’s degree and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, camping, cooking, baking and spending time with her husband and two daughters. She stays busy volunteering at school events and watching her girls play soccer.
