This funding opportunity is open to all non-federal entities. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, state and local governments, Indian tribes, hospitals, foreign public entities, and foreign governments. NIST seeks to collaborate with a wide range of organizations and encourages minority-serving institutions of higher education to apply.
All awards are made on a competitive basis. An annual notice that provides additional information on the availability of grant funds, applicant eligibility, program objectives, and selection criteria is issued in the Federal Register when funds are approved by Congress (normally by the end of the first quarter of each fiscal year). The number of awards depends on the availability of funds. We anticipate making about three to five new awards annually. Awards are typically $50K to $100K per year for up to 3 years.
Proposals should be compatible with current program objectives as defined in the current Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO); see Related Documents].
The cover page should include a statement indicating that the technical proposal is for the Fire Research Grant Program.
To be considered for funding in the current fiscal year, applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on May 1st.
