Efficient Facility Relocation: PCC's Equipment Move Through Digital Means

About

Products Chemical Company (PCC), founded in 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, is an environmentally focused manufacturer specializing in chemical production and packaging. PCC offers a wide range of products, including disinfectants, industrial cleaners, and floor care solutions, with packaging capacities from small bottles to large tankers. The company is known for its contract packaging services and commitment to quality and sustainability. PCC has one main facility in Cleveland and serves various industries nationwide. It is a family-owned business but there is no specific indication that it is woman-owned.

The Challenge

PCC faced a challenge in relocating their production equipment to a new building while ensuring minimal disruption to their operations. The company needed a precise layout to optimize the use of their new space, improve workflow, and prevent costly delays during the physical move.

High-level decision-makers were involved in overseeing the project, recognizing the importance of proper planning for their production and packaging lines. They enlisted MAGNET's staff, part of the Ohio MEP and the MEP National Network™, and expertise to digitally map out the new facility layout using AutoCAD, allowing for a seamless transition and ensuring that their operational needs were met efficiently.
We were in the midst of moving and the services provided by MAGNET were great. It was crucial for us to understand what we had and what it would look like after the modeling. Meghan Murphy & Bass Khoury did a great job!

MEP's Role

To address PCC’s challenge, MAGNET utilized AutoCAD to create a detailed digital layout of their new building, mapping out the optimal placement of production equipment. This involved working closely with key stakeholders to understand operational needs and space requirements. By developing a precise layout, MAGNET ensured that equipment could be moved efficiently without disrupting workflow or production timelines.

MAGNET conducted a thorough analysis of the current equipment setup and production flow, then designed a layout that maximized space utilization and improved operational efficiency. Throughout the process, MAGNET collaborated with various departments to incorporate their input, ensuring the final layout met the company’s technical and logistical needs. This digital plan allowed PCC to move forward with confidence, minimizing risks and potential downtime during the relocation.
