Enhancing Efficiency and Communication: How MDI Training Transformed Consolidated Machine and Welding

With the help of: Missouri Enterprise

About

Consolidated Machine and Welding, founded in 1993, is a distinguished leader in metal fabrication and machine shop services. With over 100,000 square feet of production space located in Hannibal and Palmyra, Missouri, the company is strategically positioned in the Midwest to serve customers nationwide efficiently. The mission is to provide exceptional craftsmanship for low- and high-volume productions, streamlining processes to save clients time, money, and hassle. The company is known for its unwavering dependability, commitment to quality, and customized service. An experienced team works closely with customers at every stage to ensure each project is completed to the highest standards, reflecting a solid dedication to quality and responsiveness.

The Challenge

Consolidated Machine & Welding faced challenges maintaining operational efficiency and continuous improvement, particularly with department communication. Issues like production bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and miscommunication, such as ensuring all leadership reviewed and communicated critical emails to their respective departments, led to increased costs and reduced productivity. To address these challenges, Consolidated Machine & Welding turned to Missouri Enterprise, part of the MEP National Network™, for management for daily improvement (MDI) Training.

Working with Missouri Enterprise on MDI training was one of the best investments we have made in inspiring and training our team. Getting our staff interested and involved at our facility made implementing at our other locations easier.

— AJ Baze, Safety Specialist

MEP's Role

MDI training provided tools to streamline operations, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and enhance interdepartmental communication. By involving employees in improving and optimizing resource utilization, the company achieved significant cost savings, boosted morale, and maintained a competitive edge. The Missouri Enterprise team stepped in and educated the employees while incorporating hands-on learning activities that engaged everyone. The practices learned are still being implemented today on the shop floor.
