Opening Doors to Improvement: TruStile’s Training Transformation

With the help of: Manufacturer's Edge

About

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, TruStile has grown into a national leader in the door manufacturing industry by prioritizing design flexibility, customization, and innovation. From its earliest days, the company set out to challenge the status quo in the industry, empowering customers to create doors that fit their specific projects. TruStile offers a wide range of design tools and builds every door to order using high-quality materials. Now part of The Marvin Companies, TruStile continues to operate independently and remains focused on architectural precision and rapid lead times. In 2021, the company opened a state-of-the-art, 350,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Denver, reinforcing its commitment to craftsmanship and operational excellence.

The Challenge

As part of its cultural commitment to continuous improvement, TruStile sought to identify areas with the highest potential for impact across the organization. The company wanted to focus on training programs that would yield measurable results, but implementing training at scale presented challenges. With many employees involved in time-sensitive production processes, TruStile needed to ensure the rollout of training sessions would not disrupt operations. The company also sought to foster seamless communication between leadership and the production floor, ensuring that everyone was aligned with the continuous improvement objectives.

Manufacture's Edge was very flexible in providing the training in the manner that worked best for us. They trained 188 total employees in 23 separate groups that met for 4 hours per class for 4 separate classes. In addition, they were able to provide training in both English and Spanish which was important for our diverse workforce. We learned as we went, and they made the required adjustments to make later classes even more impactful. We highly recommend Manufacturer's Edge for their expertise and flexibility.

MEP's Role

Manufacturer’s Edge, part of the MEP National Network™, collaborated with TruStile to conduct a comprehensive business health assessment, gaining a 360-degree view of the organization. This assessment helped pinpoint specific areas where targeted training would have the greatest impact. To address these needs, Manufacturer’s Edge assembled internal and external subject matter experts to design and deliver a rolling, six-week training cycle. The sessions were offered in multiple languages to accommodate TruStile’s diverse workforce and were structured to maintain the flow of production without extending lead times. This approach ensured continuous learning while minimizing disruption, helping TruStile embed a culture of improvement from the factory floor to the executive team.

Through this partnership with Manufacturer's Edge, TruStile not only enhanced employee engagement but also strengthened cross-organizational communication and operational efficiency, positioning the company for continued growth and leadership in the door manufacturing industry.
