AM Bench 2018 Challenge Submissions and Awards

The 2018 AM-Bench Organizing Committee received a total of 46 Benchmark Challenge submissions from 19 groups around the world. The geographical distribution of the groups, as determined by the home institution of the submitting author, included 9 from North America, 6 from Europe, and 4 from Asia. The number of submissions for each challenge problem is listed below. The dichotomy between the metals (AMB2018-01, AMB2018-02) and polymers (AMB2018-03, AMB2018-04) submissions was expected given the current large efforts around the world in modeling metals AM. It is hoped that the existence of high-quality benchmark test data for polymers AM will encourage the development of new models for these important processes.

Awards were determined by the 2018 AM-Bench Organizing Committee and all evaluations were based solely upon direct comparisons with the corresponding AM-Bench measurement data. If only one submission was received for a specific challenge problem, this does not mean that the submission automatically received an award. Awards were only made when the Organizing Committee unanimously agreed they were merited.

The following awards were made at the AM-Bench Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
