2024 Stakeholder Meeting for NIST Support of EPA in Implementing the Clean Air Act

2024 Stakeholder Meeting for NIST Support of EPA in Implementing the Clean Air Act

The NIST Gas Sensing Metrology Group (GSMG) is responsible for supporting the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in implementing the Clean Air Act by assisting US industries to perform quantitative measurements of relevant gas species.  Historically this has been done through the generation of NIST characterized gas standards produced by US Specialty Gas companies to support the EPA Protocol Program. This meeting intends to bring together stakeholders in the production of NIST traceable Gas Standards to help ensure the GSMG capabilities are in line with the needs of the EPA.  The meeting will be held at the NIST Gaithersburg campus on Tuesday, September 10th, and Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.  The NIST GSMG will provide an overview of current capabilities through a short series of talks and a facilities tour.  A forum will be provided for representatives of the EPA and US Specialty Gas companies involved with the production of NIST Traceable Gas standards to provide updates on their programs, present their needs, and state their current challenges.  A discussion panel will be held each day to discuss how best to utilize NIST resources to meet the needs of the EPA Protocol Program.
