NICE got its start in 2008 via the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative and over the last 15 years has been focused on preparing, growing, and sustaining the cybersecurity workforce. As we look toward our future and many more years of building a community, we are pleased to launch a new brand to reflect an institutionalized program working to advance cybersecurity education and workforce development.
Previously known as the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, NICE now goes only by its acronym. This new messaging, along with a new visual identity, will modernize the program brand, clarify our purpose and impact, and help us engage with more individuals and organizations.
The new look and feel of the NICE logo text and logomark was inspired by the need for a modern and sleek design that can carry NICE into the future. The tri-colored logomark is a form play on the letter N, with the intention to be a recognizable, stand alone mark to signify “NICE”. The use of hard and soft edges, curved lines, and bumped out spacing between the shapes, seamlessly joins the logomark to the NICE text. The movement between the shapes and letters results in a logo that is both approachable and sophisticated.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will remain the lead for NICE and the 2021-2025 NICE Strategic Plan that was published in November 2020 remains unchanged, including the NICE mission and vision.
We are excited to continue to energize, promote, and coordinate a robust community working together to advance an integrated ecosystem of cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development.
