PSA Contest

The Security Awareness Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest invites high school and college students to help promote good digital citizenship! Students can win cash prizes, gain experience, and earn recognition by creating PSA videos promoting a specific cybersecurity or privacy topic that educates the general public about using the internet safely, securely, and effectively.
Research suggests that cybercrime is hitting communities of color at higher rates. For instance, one study found that only 47% of BIPOC respondents (compared to 59% overall) were able to avoid a financial impact due to identity theft and on average reported roughly $200 more in financial losses. Another study found that significantly larger numbers of women and Black and Hispanic Americans have reported online harassment compared to white men. Furthermore, while misinformation harms everyone, the costs are not borne equally. In the United States, communities of color are disproportionately targeted and impacted by disinformation campaigns.
To better serve these underrepresented populations, the CARE Lab, Raices Cyber, and Black Girls Hack are partnering to welcome PSAs in Spanish, English, and Hindi. https://sites.temple.edu/psacontest/
