Dr. Chijioke is recognized for establishing the world’s first facility capable of accurately and traceably measuring force under rapidly changing dynamic conditions. Succeeding where other National Metrology Institutes have tried and failed, he has made NIST the first institute to make these complex and exacting measurements traceable to the International System of Units, with uncertainties better than previously believed possible. Such measurements are essential to enhance the competitiveness of US manufacturers, opening new avenues for the development and testing of manufactured materials and products, including aircraft and automobiles, and for improved understanding of human physiology (e.g., in traumatic brain injury).
