Dr. Jones is recognized for his leadership in creating the nSoft consortium, a new model designed to enhance industrial interest in and use of national user facilities like the NIST Center for Neutron Research. In nSoft, companies join a consortium to identify common problems that affect the manufacture of soft materials and to gain expertise in neutron measurements through collaborative research with NIST staff. nSoft has a diverse portfolio of active members, including Dow, Genentech, Toyota, Solvay, and Chevron Phillips, with interest expressed by more than 30 other companies. Not only has industrial use of the NCNR increased, but nSoft has provided a gateway for increased industry engagement with many other NIST programs.
