2016 George A. Uriano Award

Dr. Gu is recognized for her strong leadership in building the NIST/industry Consortium on Characterization and Modeling of Polymers for Photovoltaic Systems, and for her extraordinary efforts to develop and deploy the NIST-led accelerated laboratory aging tools to industry.  With these tools, industry can quickly and accurately assess the service life of polymeric materials used in photovoltaic systems, and can reduce unexpected failures. Her work has led to decreased time-to-market for new products, to more accurate warranty-period assignments, to enhanced ability to choose materials, and to improved product safety -- all aiding successful deployment of photovoltaic-based power as a financially viable clean energy source.
