Dr. Nam is recognized for his breakthrough research in the field of quantum information science for over a decade, enabled by his invention of record-breaking single-photon and photon-counting detectors. With these detectors, Nam has led an international network of collaborations that have resulted in the confirmation of a fundamental tenet of quantum mechanics, achieved the longest-distance distribution of a quantum decryption key, and improved metrology through investigations of quantum states of light.
