Mitchell is recognized for providing leadership and professional expertise to a team on the NIST Boulder campus attempting to stand up a gas management program similar to the one he developed on the NIST Gaithersburg campus, as well as standing up a program at the University of Shady Grove for MML. Mitchell also leveraged his expertise in specific efforts to improve services for specialty gases and cryogens critical to the NIST research mission, including the coordination of the NIST Gaithersburg response to a global shortage of liquid helium, a complex inventory and billing reconciliation of gas cylinders and the development of a new liquid helium delivery contract.
