Dr. Faraone is recognized for his use of neutron spin-echo techniques in elucidating the dynamic mechanisms by which inorganic nanoparticles alter the physical properties of polymer nanocomposites and for the development of “architecturally-engineered” polymer nanocomposites that use glassy, star-shaped polymers to tune the interfacial dynamics and hence the physical properties of these materials. His results directly link nanoscale structure and dynamics to the useful macroscopic properties of the material.
