2020 Bronze Medal Award

AWARD CITATION

The group is recognized for developing a novel nanoscale light emitting diode (LED) device with enough intensity for practical applications in LED-based display technology, atomic scale imaging and semiconductor characterization.  Through their rigorous study of composition and polarity in gallium nitride nanostructures, they were able to dispel long-held misconceptions in the field and develop new methods to optimize the electrical conductivity and crystalline structure.  Their innovations are being transferred to industry through multiple active collaborations.
