The group is recognized for response to the CARES Act emergency need to waive contractual requirements to equally cost share Federal and non-Federal funds for all 51 MEP Centers, alleviating extreme financial pressure on those centers during the pandemic. The 51 MEP Centers provide services to small and medium manufacturers, who provide much of the cost share. The pandemic and economic response severely curtailed services, and the group drove an extremely rapid (10 business days) development and implementation of a workable legal basis to effect the waiver immediately. This unprecedented speed enabled all Centers to avoid staffing reductions and to continue crucial services to manufacturers for pandemic-driven needs.
