The group is recognized for developing five human genome reference materials (RMs), associated reference data, and best practices to assess DNA sequencing accuracy, along with establishing the Genome in a Bottle Consortium for stakeholder input. The RMs are the world’s most highly characterized DNA materials, with over 2.5 billion measured DNA bases. These metrology tools have greatly accelerated biosciences and biotechnology R&D to translation, such as clinical diagnostics via state-of-the-art DNA sequencing and personalize treatment of intractable medical conditions such as cancer.
