The group is recognized for their technical and administrative support to overcome unprecedented challenges raised by the COVID pandemic. Their tireless efforts to enable research to continue and to adapt to new needs using new techniques, computing resources, and required processes while working remotely (and at full effectiveness) made it possible for the ITL Retrieval Group to accomplish its primary mission: enabling continued research by the information retrieval community worldwide and contributing to responding to the White House statement titled "Call to Action to the Tech Community on New Machine Readable COVID-19 Dataset."
