Dr. Hamadani is recognized for developing a Standard Reference Instrument (SRI) and two calibration services to enable industry and researchers to accurately measure the electrical output of photovoltaic (PV) cells. The SRI consists of a calibrated photovoltaic cell that is packaged to allow its precise placement in a calibration apparatus at a prescribed temperature and to perform critical measurements needed to characterize performance of the PV cell being tested. This device is allowing industry to develop new photovoltaic technologies for a wide range of applications, from small sensors in a dim indoor room to satellites outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
