The team is recognized for helping to fight communicable diseases by improving the technology relied on by clinicians. The team designed and implemented the Forecasting for Immunization Test Suite (FITS), a web-based test environment that determines whether systems used by clinicians are providing correct and up-to-date vaccine recommendations for a given patient. This collaborative effort with the HHS Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Immunization Registry Association has led to a 74% improvement in the accuracy of vaccine recommendations.
