The group is recognized for the development and deployment of an easy-to-use on-line application that allows users to design efficient experiments, including instrument calibration, and to assess measurement uncertainty without in-depth knowledge of statistics. The sophisticated program applies Bayesian algorithms to user-supplied data to yield comprehensive estimates of process uncertainty. This public-facing tool, named ABACUS (Application for Bayesian Analysis of Chemical quantities Using Shiny), transfers the expertise of NIST metrologists and statisticians to the measurement community.
