2023 Director's Award for Excellence in Administration

This volunteer cross-OU collaboration team is recognized for their selfless and persistent effort over the past year to safely re-open the NIST Gaithersburg fitness center. Acting on the NIST director's emphasis on improving wellness for staff and creating a more inclusive community, the team took advantage of the fitness center's transition to also implement a model that eliminated the center's monthly access fee, addressed a multitude of maintenance and cleaning needs of the space and equipment, and developed and presented a proposal to NIST management for an expansion and renovation of the center that would improve accessibility and expand the offerings for staff by providing more equipment and introducing other exercise and wellness options.
