The 2016 Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Meeting kicked off on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California. Leaders from public safety, Federal agencies, industry, and academia gathered to discuss advancements and progress made in public safety research.
Many representatives also attended the first workshop on Video Analytics in Public Safety (VAPS) held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Hard Rock Hotel. This workshop enabled attendees to deep dive into additional technological advancements crucial to public safety prior to the Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Meeting.
The 2016 Meeting provided an opportunity for PSCR to inform its stakeholders on recent developments in research and introduce innovative programs to the public safety arena. Dereck Orr introduced the Innovation Accelerator Program, which, in collaboration with NASA, will launch prizes and challenges to find innovative solutions to tough problems in public safety communications. PSCR also incorporated breakout sessions during day 2 of the event, allowing attendees to choose from various presentations that catered to their personal interests.
