Kamie Roberts (Fed)

Associate Director

Kamie Roberts is the Associate Director of the Office of Government and Industrial Liaison in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL). Kamie also serves as the Consortium Manager of the NIST Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium. The Consortium brings together more than 290 organizations to develop science-based and empirically backed guidelines and standards for AI measurement and policy, laying the foundation for AI safety across the world. Prior to taking on these roles, Kamie was on a six-year detail to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy as the Director of the National Coordination Office for the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program. The NITRD Program is the Nation’s primary source of federally funded research and development in advanced information technologies. NITRD coordinates and helps set priorities for over $10B in Federal R&D investments that identify, develop, and transition to practical use the advanced networking and IT capabilities needed by the Federal Government and the Nation. Previously at NIST, Kamie served as the Associate Director of Federal and Industrial Relations and Chief of Staff for the NIST ITL. Kamie has served her entire career at NIST covering a broad range of research from networking to big data to health IT, and more. Kamie earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Computer Science from George Washington University.
