Ed has worked in a wide range of research areas. Currently he is conducting critical compilations of data on atomic energy levels, wavelengths and transition probabilities. Previous work includes developing methods to disseminate scientific databases over the World Wide Web, compilations of data required to use the resonance ionization spectroscopy analytical technique for specific elements, multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock calculations of atomic energy levels and oscillator strengths, compilations of x-ray attenuation coefficients, measurement of the effects of electric fields on autoionizing resonances, measurement of photoabsorption cross sections, and vacuum ultraviolet and soft x-ray radiometry using synchrotron radiation.
