Jeff Van Lanen is a Physical Science Technician in the Quantum Devices Group in the Quantum Electromagnetics Division of the Physical Measurements Laboratory at NIST. He has worked at NIST since 2008.
His current research interests include the fabrication of micromachined silicon feedhorns and waveguide interface parts used on ground based and balloon born CMB experiments. Over the years, working with Jim Beall, he fabricated and assembled silicon feedhorns for collaborations such as ACTpol, AdvACT, Toltec, SPIDER, and Simon’s Observatory. He is currently fabricating all the micromachined silicon interface parts, used by himself, to assemble all the detector assemblies for Simon’s Observatory.
