Point defects in materials affect the functional properties of devices. My research is focused on developing experimental techniques such magnetic resonance, impedance spectroscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy and combining these measurements with fundamental physical models and first principles calculations to better understand the energetics and kinetics of point defects in order to provide insight on how to better compositionally design complex oxides for improved performance and reliability.
