Purpose: Promote discussions and strengthen collaboration among greenhouse gas emissions modelers, urban planners, and mitigation stakeholder to identify methodological needs, useable tools, advance the development of algorithms and data products fundamental to establishing a reference frame and methods advancing comparability of emissions modeling results.
Description: Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories at the urban scale are a key ingredient in the larger effort to close carbon budgets over cities, reduce uncertainty in flux estimates, and provide stakeholders in GHG mitigation efforts with high quality information. The wide spectrum of methodological approaches, spatial domains, and the rapid emergence of a nascent community, drives this workshop to focus on how urban carbon cycle research efforts can be most directly useful to urban planners and mitigation stakeholders as well as to the urban GHG measurements research community. Discussions will focus on useful information, useable tools, algorithms and data products to meet practical urban planning and mitigation management questions. Specific goals are to address:
