Clyde Messerly is the Assistant Director for Design and Construction in the Office of Facilities and Property Management. He is responsible for major design and construction projects including major repair projects in Boulder and Gaithersburg. He joined NIST in August 2010 as Chief of the newly formed Design and Construction Division in Gaithersburg. The Design and Construction Division had responsibility for oversight of the $100 million in ARRA-funded construction projects. Clyde came from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where he was the Director of the Division of Engineering Services in the Office of Real Property Services, responsible for the engineering and space needs for about 3.5 million square feet of FDA facilities and laboratories nationwide. Prior to joining FDA in 1996, Clyde began his federal career in 1991 at the National Institutes of Health. He was a project manager with an architectural firm for thirteen years prior to joining the federal government. Clyde is a registered architect who graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami in 1977.
