Ravid Shaniv (Assoc)

Physicist

Ravid Shaniv is a staff scientist in the Ion Storage Group, working on quantum information and sensing with trapped ions. He is primarily interested in developing methods for computing and sensing, which employs the quantum link between a trapped ion’s motion and its quantum internal state. Ravid received his PhD in 2019 from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he worked in the group of Prof. Roee Ozeri on both quantum information, including, for example, robustness of two-ion entangling gates, and on methods for precision metrology, including systematic shift cancellation for optical atomic clocks and harnessing atomic energy structure and manipulation for the measurement of new physics beyond the standard model. Before joining the Ion Storage Group, Ravid was a postdoctoral fellow at JILA in Boulder, CO, working in the group of Prof. Cindy Regal on design and demonstration of optomechanical sensors.
