NIST and ASTM E57 at the 2022 Automate Show

Robot bin picking

June 6-9, 2022

Booth 140 & 141
Huntington Place Convention Center
Detroit, Michigan

The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Perception Performance of Robotic Systems (PPRS) Project and ASTM International Committee E57 on 3D Imaging Systems are co-sponsoring a booth at the 2022 Automate Show in Detroit, Michigan, June 6 to 9, 2022.

The booth will include presentations and demonstrations of the work that the NIST PPRS Project and ASTM E57 are collaborating on, which includes the development of 4 new standards for 3D Imaging Systems (or 3D machine vision systems) used in manufacturing automation and robotic applications. These 4 standards are:
1.    WK72962 - Standard Test Method for Measuring the performance of a 3D perception system across the specified Field-of-View (Technical Contact: John Sweetser, Intel RealSense)
2.    WK73176 - Standard Test Methods for Determination of a 3D Perception Systems Point Wise Spatial Resolution (Technical Contact: Joseph Schornak, PickNik)
3.    WK78941 - Standard Test Method for Performance of machine vision systems for bin-picking systems (Technical Contact: Armin Khatoonabadi, Apera)
4.    WK81247 - Standard Guide for Selection of 3D Vision Technologies for Industrial Applications (Technical Contact: David Dechow, Landing AI)

Also featured at the booth will be other work being conducted at NIST as part of the Measurement Science for Manufacturing Robotics (MSMR) Program.
