Setting Your Computer Clock
The prolific NIST Internet Time Service (ITS) synchronizes more clocks than any time service in the world, handling about one million timing requests every second, or about 80 billion requests per day. The service can be used to set computer clocks and other devices with several different time protocols, but the Network Time Protocol (NTP) is the most prevalent. The Automated Computer Time Service (ACTS) is used to synchronize computer clocks and other devices through analog phone lines.
