Nathan Bryant (Fed)

NRC Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Nathan Bryant is currently an NRC postdoctoral fellow at NIST Boulder in the Fluid Characterization Group. His current efforts include detecting trace compounds from breath capture devices by GC-MS and expanding the capabilities of the group's high pressure NMR system. Prior to joining NIST, Dr. Bryant completed his PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Tennessee under the supervision of Dr. Arthur Ragauskas, Governor's Chair for Biorefining. His graduate school work focused on characterizing cell wall biopolymers for biofuel applications, with an emphasis on analyzing lignin by NMR. He also hold an M.S. in reliability engineering from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Tennessee Technological University. Dr. Bryant also has several years in industry. He first worked as a process engineer at a nuclear fuel cycle facility, and then as a research engineer at Eastman Chemical Company focusing on improving properties of cellulose acetate fiber.
