Jorge Lamboy-Gonzalez (Fed)

Jorge Lamboy, Ph.D. is a Technical Program Manager at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Office of Advanced Manufacturing (OAM), which also serves as the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office for Manufacturing USA. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. Jorge conducted post-doctoral work in Biophysics at the University of California, San Diego.

Before NIST, Jorge held Lead roles at Beckman Coulter, where he designed, developed, and manufactured diagnostic devices for clinical evaluation of allergic disorders, renal disease, metabolism health and anticonvulsant drug therapy. He also re-engineered the manufacturing processes for these products to augment manufacturing efficiencies. Following his industry work, Jorge became an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation (NSF), where he propelled fundamental research to serve various sectors of the Bioeconomy. He followed his AAAS Fellowship with a Scientific Advisor role at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), where he advised on life sciences and cybersecurity of medical devices, and supported the establishment of a new program to enhance and automate resilience of healthcare networks. 

At OAM, Jorge fosters innovation across industry, academia, and the public sector to advance American manufacturing, and provides leadership for managing NIST-sponsored Manufacturing USA institutes, including the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL).
