What is remote actuating?
Remote actuating occurs when the Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) is connected to a STIM consisting only of actuators, in other words, an actuator STIM. It provides a mechanism allowing the remote manipulation of the actuators throughout the network in which the NCAP is connected.
What is an example of remote actuating?
NCAPs connected only to a actuator STIM can, based on the broadcast data received from other NCAPs, activate an alarm when the vibration level of the bearings in a turbine in a ship exceed a critical set point, or send a warning when the temperature of a water bath in a chemical processing plant reaches a critical temperature (etc).
