Abstract

The reorientational dynamics of BH4 anions in a variety of environments of environments were measured as a function of temperature via fixed-window scans (FWSs) at zero energy transfer using a neutron backscattering spectrometer. The temperature dependence of the FWS was shown to be a useful indicator of the relative reorientational mobilities of BH4 anions in the various alkali-metal borohydride compounds MBH4 (M=Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs), LiBH4 nanoconfined in carbon aerogel, and LiBH^d4-LiI solid solution.
