Magnetic Properties of the Co-Cd60} and Fe-Cd60}Nanocrystalline Magnetic Thin Films

Abstract
The basic magnetic properties of Co-Cd60} and Fe-Cd60} nanocrystalline magnetic thin films and the temperature effects of these properties have been investigated. Experimental results show that the Co-Cd60} films possess an in-plane magnetic anisotropy, but such an anisotropy is not found in the Fe-Cd60} films. At room temperature, the magnetic coercivity decreases with increasing Cd60} concentration in the Co-Cd60} films while it increases with increasing Cd60} concentration in the Fe-Cd60} film. Strong temperature-dependent remanence and saturation magnetization are found in both the Co-Cd60} and Fe-C60 films with high C60 concentration due to the nanosize grain effects. The effects of temperature on the coercivity of the Co-Cd60} and Fe-Cd60} films are different and determined by the intrinsic magnetocrystalline anistropy energy of Co and Fe respectively.Citation
